SILENT EDGE//Silent Edge is a new name in the Dutch
progressive hardrockscene. In 1995, Silent Edge was founded as Now Way Out by Minggus
Gaspersz and Rico Tentua. Silent Edge plays symphonic progrock. The compositions have
classical arrangements, combined with metal oriented riffs. The technical wizardry is
perfectly balanced by spherical ballads. The compositions are in the style of Symphony X,
Royal Hunt, Artension, Journey and Yngwie Malmsteen. In 1996 and 1999, Silent Edge was one
of the finalists in the Parel van de Betuwe (a local music contest, part of De Grote Prijs
van Nederland), making a big impressing on the jury and the audience. Emo Suripatty did
even win the first prize in the category Best guitarist.
In August 2000, Silent Edge recorded a demo-album "Under a Shaded Moon", and
again, the listeners got impressed. Not long ago, the rhythmsection decided to go their
own way, so the rest of the band members are looking for a new bassplayer and drummer now.
Right after the demo "Under a Shaded Moon", Silent Edge decides to do a full
length album next year. Organizations of festivals and record labels are very interested,
following every step Silent Edge makes.
In November and December this year, Silent Edge will appear in advertisements of
Compaq-computers in a lot of different magazines. The coming months Silent Edge will focus
on the initiation of the new drummer and bassplayer. After that several tryouts, gigs and
festivals are planned next spring. Silent Edge plays on the edge of the musical horizon
and is constantly looking for the source of the inspiring silence... the Edge of Silence.
