Dark Tranquility - " Damage Done "
Genre : Melodic death metal
Century Media Records 2002

This new Dark Tranquility album isn't only good, but it could be considered their best album ever, they shure deliver a very technical melodic death metal. In previous albums, they already included less heavy riffs and more melodies than in most traditional death metal albums(heavier riffs, dense & gothic atmospheres, etc), but in this "Damage Done" Dark Tranquility they play a more direct sound, sharpened guitars and great solos, without losing the "negative" atmosphere (in the good sense of the word) characteristic of this type of metal. Althought Dark tranquility was never a "completly" death band (because of it's unusual sound) they could now be labeled as "Melodic Death", a growing genre thanks to such bands like "In Flames","Arch Enemy", "Impaled Nazerene",etc. Songs like "Final resistance" or "Hours Passed In Exile" sound very heavy/thrash influenced, showing the evolution of the band, reaching the highest point of their musical performance. Before listening to this album, my favourite Dark tranquility album was "The Gallery", but with this "Damage Done", my favourite song is "Monochromatic Stains", a true masterpiece!! highly recomendable, not only for Black/Death metal fans, but also for those who seek something "fresh" in todays saturated dark sounds.

Score: 9/10
