Freternia-"A
Nightmare Story" Arise 2002 |
By the name of this band you would think it's just another of
those countless power metal bands, but happily this isn't so. Althought Freternia isn't a
grounbreaking band. This second album of the band, has it's own personal seal, wich is
really hard to achieve in todays saturated power metal. This characteristic which makes
them noticeable from the rest of the crowd is without a doubt their "agressive"
sound, a la Steel Attack or Lost horizon. It's also the voice of their singer; Pasi
Humppi, what makes us listen the complete album. Humppi's voice isn't the regular high
pitched power metal voice. It's rather violent and agressive but without loing the melody
( wich makes me remember the excelent Vhäldemar singer) The album sound and mixing is
just flawless, they don't abuse of the doble drum parts and the rythms are predictable,
wich makes them sound fresh. Mika Jussila's work on masterizing the album is as great as
J.P. Fournier cover artwork. This album is really worth a look , this swedes who recently
signed with Arise Records from Spain have a great future. |
