Iced
Earth-"Tribute to the Gods" Century Media 2002 |
Althought this cd was already released with Iced Earth's box
"Dark Genesis" last year, it is relaunched now by Century Media. Iced earth is
the kind of band that can play many classics from Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Blue
Oyster cult, Iron Maiden, Kiss, etc. refreshing their sound with a load of heaviness. The
only one conmplaining would be Matt Barlow how had the task of performing different voices
and styles. Some of them like Halford's , Dickinson's or Bon Scott's voices are so
special that hardly would be ver imitated. But it is Barlow's effort what makes us
appreciate his skills. But if there's a voice Iced Earth's frontman can succesfully
achieve is Paul Stanley's. "Creatures of the Night" & "God of
Thunder" sound almost like the original versions. Only knowing John Schaffer's
fanatism for Iron Maiden is that we can explain almost exact copies (with Schaffer's style
of course) of Steve Harris applaused compositions. This album shows the band influences
that include such classic bands as Black Sabbatt, Blue Oyster Cult and the well known
Alice Cooper. This also representa an interesting intermission between their "Horror
Show" and their forthcoming album. |
