We contacted italian power metal band Beholder to talk about their furture plans and their latest album "Wish for Destruction". Here's what Andy McKein answered to our friends Cristopher and Marcos.

When did you create Beholder?
The band was created by Patrick in the 1998. Patrick was the one with the idea....

Patrick was the one with the idea....and how did he managed to contact the others? or how did you all meet and decided to be part of the band?
Yes patrick had the idea and he contacted me by phone and and he offered me the chance to enter the band in order to record the new album in the next months.

You were all friends with Patrick?
Some of us were friend of him.I didn't know him before he called me up.

And why did you decided to play "power metal"? Was this Patrick's idea? Or you all decided that? The band was already playing this kind of music and I was happy to play power metal 'cause I like this metal genre. Why the name "Beholder"? The first Beholder drummer decided this monicker, it is the name of a creature you can find in Dungeons & Dragons. Iit represented the epic atmosphere we wanted to give to our music What about Leanan? Why two singers? At the beginning, Patrick was the singer and the rhythm guitarist of the band, so they decided to call up a girl and try to create this unique style that is at the moment the trademark of the band we saw that the press and the fans liked this choice and we kept on working this way It gives a the band a whole new environment. How would you define Beholder? musically speaking First we loved all kind of music..we always say that we

After "The legend begins", great album I must say, the critics were very good, were you happy with the results?
We are very happy, specially because of  the brazilian reviews, they were so good!

Wich are the musical influences of Beholder?
I like the followings bands: Dream theater, Death, Megadeth, Helloween and Kamelot. Patrick likes AC DC, Testament, Masterplan

What about your recent album...."Wish for Destruction", Dou you feel that it's better than "The legend begins"?
Yes of course..I prefer the sound wich is more aggressive. Our second album is more aggressive than "The Legend Begins". We didn't follow the epic feelings of the debut, we tried to create a powerful style, to write different lyrics and a new kind of performance by the singers.There are no ballads on "Wish...", but a couple of killer songs!

Well, unfortunately, this album hasn't come to peru yet, but we were sure it's great!
Oh, thanks we are waiting for a license and we hope it will be soon out in your country

Are you planning a South American Tour?
Unfortunately, there's no tour planned at the moment, but we hope we'll go there as soon as possible! We want to play in South America 'cause I'm sure it must be great!

You have a lot of fans here....we'd really love to see you on tour

In "the legend begins", Patrick was the main composer, how do you feel now that all of the members have contributed to the new album?
I think the new record is full of the music feelings of all the members. We all took part of the arrangements sessions and I think it helped the album to be better.

What is your opinion about other italian power metal bands? Like the well-known Rhapsody, Secret Sphere, Irencross, Labyrinth, etc?
Secret Sphere are friends of ours and we think that they are fuckin' great, we like many italian artists, but the best is little Tony. Rhapsody are great, and I know Mat Stanciou from Labyrinth and he is a very good musician and friend.

Are you planning a tour with any of these bands?
We hope to have this kind of tour in the future, it will be great to tour with other italian bands, but it's difficult

You are currently recording your third album, right?
Yes it's right.

What do you all expect from this new album? Will it be as agressive as "Wish of Destruction", or maybe something like "the legend begins"?
We would like to mix different music styles, in order to create a new sound... it has to be a surprise for everyone! By now I can tell that there will be no concept lyrics.
