Karsten Larsson- Drums

Our good friend Simona Popescu starts her cooperation with Mighty Warrior from Romania sending us this interview, wich will be also published in her own webzine Steel and Fire (www.steelandfire.20m.com) The interview is with Falconer, the great swedish power metal band, whose members come from black and death metal bands and the singer works in teather musicals!! They took part in the last Wacken festival with great success. Lest read what Stefan Weinerhall, guitar player of the band, has to say.

1.-¿Why Falconer? ¿Where does the name come from?
I wanted a name that sounded original and wasn't too complicated. Falconer has a medieval feeling too. Something that I think you can find in the music too.

2.-¿What's new about "Chapter from a Vale Forlorn", compared to your previous album?
More variety and maturity. The new one is much more interesting for me to listen too since the songs differ more from each other and the structure of the songs are more worked through.

3.-Falconer's music is filled with medieval themes and sounds, and you've played in a "viking metal" band before. ¿Wich are your personal influences, wich lead you to this?
I don't know where the medieval influences came from in the beginning. I think it's just my personal style. I love melodic music and I have grown up with metal, so those parts ain't hard to figure out but the medieval things….I just don't know.

4.-¿You played in the last Wacken Open air festival this year, how was it?
VERY good. It was our third gig ever, and we thought it was so fun. The audience was just superb so we have to thank them for the encouragement they gave us. The 3 gigs we've done so far has really spurred us to do more livegigs. It felt a bit strange from going from a band in the rehearsalroom as we've always been, into standing infront of thousands of wild fans in Germany. It's very fun but also a bit absurd from at least my angle.

5.-¿Do you plan to tour this year?
Hmm, this year? We will probably do some shows this year, the plans are there but nothing is booked yet. A tour on the other side I think will not happen until the next album. I've started to work on that one now. If someone want us for a gig, then just contact us.

6.-¿Wich bands have you been listening lately?
That's a wide selection. Jethro tull, Warlord, Lillian axe, Mike Oldfield, Simon and Garfunkel, Him and much much more.

7.-¿How do you see the future of metal in the new millenium?
It's hard for me to say. I think people will grow tired of all the nu-metal and turn towards the real stuff again. I hope and think so.

8.-¿You're currently working on a new record aren't you? Can you tell us about it?
Yes, I am. It will be a concept album, so the music will be lead more by the lyrics than they've been in the past. Exactly what that will result in is still too early to say. Maybe not as straightly and commonly built. We'll still have to see.

9.-¿Any last words?
Thanks a lot for the interview and cheers to all the folks who saw us live, I hope you didn't got scared away. Ha ha ha!!!
