We interviewed the spanish band SAUROM LAMDERTH, a new band, every Tolkien fan will like. They plan to release a trilogy about Lord of the Rings starting this October with the first one. Their fantastic folk metal sound is really great. Here´s what  Jose Saurom, bassist of the band answered.

1.-¿How did Saurom Lamderth begin?
It surged from several other bands wich some of Saurom Landerth original members use to belong to, like Narci on voice, flutes & guitar and Antonio on drums.Being both, diehard Lord of the Rings fans they had the idea to base the lyrics in that book.

2.-Wich bands have influenced you?
I´d rather say music genres since in Saurom Landerth we have a variety of music styles,Narci the vocalist listens to classical music and rock, Antonio the drummer listens Black metal, Raul the lead guitar power metal, Paco the violinist, keyboardist and bagpiper listens folk and celtic and me, Jose on the bass use to listen thrash & progressive metal. This musical mixture makes Saurom Lamderth sound like it does.

3.-How did you came to the idea of writing about Tolkien Books ?
The idea ,as I told you before, came from the band original members Narci and Antonio. It was a good idea and very well accepted cause here in Spain there were no bands writing about Tolkien.

4.-¿How have the fans and the press reacted to your debut album?
Man, to be a debut album from a new band it´s going great with both fans and press.

5.-What do you think about todays position of spanish metal in the world scene?
We´re growing step by step in the international market, which is not an easy task but we already have bands like Mago de Oz & Tierra santa.

6.-Do you pretend to release a trilogy about Lord of the rings?
Have you read our thoughts? Hehehehe well yes, we pretend to release a trilogy about Lord of the Rings, an album per year.The first one will be released this October/November

7.-¿Where are you going to play this days?Tell me about the Piornorock?
Like you have said, we´re going to play in this year´s Piorno rock with Kreator, Edguy or Tierra Santa and many more.After that we´ll make a little promotion tour for our debut album the one wich is scheduled for early June but still to be confirmed.Besides other shows.

8.-¿When do you plan to release the new album?
Like I already said the new Saurom album will be released in October/November 2002 and it will be entirely about Lord of the Rings. Here are some song names from the forthcoming album: "El cumpleaños de Bilbo" "Acertijo en las tinieblas" o "Jinetes negros".

9.-¿What do you think about the Lord of the Rings movie?
Pretty accurate to the book. It´s been obligatory for each member of the band to see it. I´ve seen it 3 times already hehehe.It has been a great inspiration for us.
