This is a tribute that Iīve been waiting for since Nuclear Blast decided
to cancel it, in that time the only band who did actually record a song was Hammerfall
(they played a very similar version of "I want out" with Kai and Joacim on
vocals) and since that proyect never saw the light, they decided to include it in a single
CD.(thatīs why Hammerfall does not appear in this album)
The bands in this album are just amazing, such as Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica, Luca Turilli,
Metallium, Vision Divine, Labyrinth and Secret Sphere.
Letīs Analize the whole album song by song:
Guardians -by Rhapsody-: Just two genius like Luca Turrilli
and Alessandro Staropoli could make this filarmonica arrenged version of this great song.
I Want Out -by Sonata Arctica-: This guys did just what the
essence and leit motiv of doing a tribute album is, they changed the original song to
their own speedy style, they even changed the first part of the solo which has a keyboard
part.
A little time -by Heavenīs Gate-: this is a great song that
couldnīt be changed to much instead of the chorus part and the clasical arrengement.
Ride the Sky -by Metallium-: This version of the heavy metal
anthem "Ride the Sky" is strong, speedy and powerful, the perfect combination
with the voice of Henne Basse.
Iīm Alive -by Luca Turilli-: Itīs just the same thing that
Rhapsody did, except that Fabio Lione isnīt on the vocals, but I like Olafīs voice.
Judas -by Morifade-: Morifade did the strongest version of
"Judas" that could be done.
Eagle Fly Free -by Vision Divine-: this song apeared in the
japanese version of the Vision Divine album and since I heard it, I became a Vision Divine
fan, they did a slightly diferent version of this classic, which is, in my opinion, the
best song of Helloween of all times.
Savage - by Brainstorm-: I donīt like this song īcause the
singer does not fit in the original concept, besides that, they do a good job.
Future World -by Labyrinth-: The best "to play
live" song of Helloween is very well done by the italians.
Save Us -by Cydonia-: This is a bad cover, I donīt like it
īcause they destroy a great song.
Victim of Fate -by Squealer-: I canīt blame this guys, cause
they did a good job, but no one can replace Michael Kiskeīs melodic voice...hmmm... maybe
Heavenlyīs singer.
Halloween -by Dark Moor-: Itīs a completely different song
with all the orquestation that the spanish guys from Dark Moor could bring to it.
How Many Tears -by Secret Sphere-: A great song to finish a
great album, Secret Sphere made a few changes, and they did it for good!!!.
Well, this is a great album that demonstrates that Helloween "old days" were
amazing, I wish they could kick Andi Deris out, cause he doesnīt diserves to be in such a
great band.
P.D:I missed a song by Skylark...maybe nextime.
Score: 9/10
