Rain-"Dark Waters" Independent 2003 |
Mercury Rain is the name of this band who perform a unusual
style of power metal; gothic power metal that is. With a very nice female voice and a
really original sound this british guys offer a interesting second Cd. "Dark
Waters" isn't the usual "german power metal" album. It has lots of gothic
influences and in some passages a similar style to Nightwish or Seraphim but even more
gothic. Mid tempo tunes and melancholical lyrics (all of them based on tragedies related
with sailors, mermaids or anything that has to do with waters) but also some great metal
riffs that show the potential of this not so recent metal group. They have some time
playing together and it shows. Tight melodies and flawless performance of their
instruments prognosticate a bright future for Mercury Rain. Althought already mentioned I
want to emphasize the great voice of Sonia Porzier. Without her voice this album wouldn't
be the same. |
