Quest - " Demo " Powerquest 2002 |
When you think on english metal you imagine Iron Maiden,
Judas Priest or Black Sabbath. The melodic power metal isn't what they're known for. But
this band, "Power Quest" is an exception. This demo shows us how there is a
bunch of new power metal bands in England worth a look. Althought this demo only contains
two songs it's enough to know who good Steve Williams' band is. The first track,"Glory
tonight" is really fats and catchy. It sounds like Dragonforce, maybe because they
have(at the moment) the same singer; Z.P. and the guitar solos atre performed by Sam who
also plays in Dragonforce. They manage to sound fresh separationg them from the usual
Stratovarius & Helloween clones. The second one in the demo is "Follow your
Heart" wich is the best song in the mini cd. Between melodic power and progressive
metal this track teaches how to perform great metal with excellent keyboard and guitar
solos, what is hard to achieve in such a saturated scene as the power metal one this days.
To finish, a great demo and a very promising band. Now that they have signed with
Underground Symphony lets just wait for their debut album to verify the skills they showed
in this demo. |
