Requiem-"The Arrival"
Genre
: Progressive Power Metal
Sound Riot 2002

This is a band that tries to develope their own style, as hard as it sound being a power metal band. The compositions of this finish guys show their porgressive and melodic metal background ("Forgotten Path" or "Halls of Eternity"). Excelent solos and joyful rythms make this album sound fresh. Jouni Nikula is also a plus to this Cd. He sings with feeling and strenght yet shows an agressive attitude, pretty unusual quality for the "sweet" voices of todays power metal singers. Althought Requiem isn't the most creative band, "Arrival" shows some innovations to the power metal genre with progressive touches and some interesting samples. You might call it power metal with an attitude. The best songs are "The Invisible Touch", "Revival" & "Broken Alliance" wich sound very much like "Lost horizon" and other power metal bands with more metal and less hard rock. The future of power metal seems to be bright.
