It rose like phoenix from the ashes during the long, cold winter
of 1998: the project Hrossharsgrani. Battles and choirs lead the
listener through ancient, long forgotten times full of myths and
legends. "....Of Battles, Ravens And Fire" was the final chapter
for a ring of tales around viking and nordic mythology. From now
on, Hrossharsgrani decided to conquer the wonderful world of J.R.R.
Tolkien. The one-man-project grew to a band, Fylgia and Munin
joined Hrossharsgrani to forge a mighty allegiance with Hugin.
Fylgja, Munin and Hugin moved in between may and october 2002 to
record "The Secret Fire" - the succesor to "Schattenkrieger"
Supported by a whole armada of guest-musicians, he walked totally
new musical paths, which let the metal-world shine in a totally
new light. The working title "Land Of The Shadow" and all the
lyrics were thrown away already in the first part of realization.
HROSSHARSGRANI wanted to go back to the roots with lyrics in his
home-language to strenghten the expressionism in his lyrics.
The name:
Vikar and his
men landed on an island to rest. When time to leave had come,
there was no wind and the warriors had to wait day after day for
the opportunity to head for the open sea. Finally they only knew a
one last solution in their desperate situation. They promised Odin
a human sacrifice. The rolled the dice - and fate chose Vikar! All
men were embarassed and decided to wait for the next morning in
order to discuss what had to be done.
In the night Starkad was waked and before him stood HROSSHARSGRANI
a man, who once saved his life. He asked Starkad to follow him and
on his little boat the rowed to a small piece of land just before
the island. They went in a little wood where everything was
prepared for a Thing. Twelve chairs stood there, eleven were
occupied, the twelth was empty. HROSSHARSGRANI sat down on this
twelth seat and all the people greeted him as Odin, so Starkad
knew at once, who brought him here. |
