Korpiklaani |
Info:
A Finnish band deeply
rooted in Finnish folk and language, the lyrics are entirely sung
in the Sámi language. After two albums, mainman Jonne Järvelä
decided a shift in direction was necessary, the goal being to
retain the folk roots but with a more increased metal influence.
With new members in tow, Shaman became Korpiklaani.
The name:
The oldest layers of Finnish paganism are shamanistic. Shamans are
a kind of wizard, wise and respected, who was believed to have a
special relationship with spirit world. In a trance like state
shamans could ask forefathers and nature spirits for guidance and
hidden wisdom. Nature was full of information to them who could
ask it. |
