Back from the Studio

We arrived back in Ireland yesterday evening after 10 long days at Foel Studio in the rolling hills of rural Wales. The studio offered us cosy and relaxing accommodation, a warm and friendly working atmosphere and an engineer whose talent and dedication redefined what all of us thought were the boundaries of committment to one's job. We're incredibly encouraged by what we've heard so far and no doubt the mixing, due to happen on 29/30th April, will further reinforce the view that we made the correct decision to entrust Foel Studio and, namely, engineer Chris Fielding with the task of recording our album.

BREAKING NEWS

FRIDAY THE 13TH, FEBRUARY, 2009, DETROIT, MI, USA: Hello again loyal friends & family… Well, we are at it once again. It’s no secret that we have been playing a long game of musical chairs with our family tree. It has been quite a process getting all the right pieces to fit together. We (George and myself) have had the privilege of working with a long list of amazing players over the years, and this time is no exception. We think we’ve assembled another amazing line up, just in time to celebrate another milestone in the bands illustrious career. The 25th anniversary of our Don’t Metal With Evil record. There are dozens of reasons why line ups change, life takes many turns and no one knows what’s up ahead. Rather than dwell on why, we would just like to say a heart felt good luck to our brothers who have moved on to different ventures. In fact, we will definitely work together again in the future on many projects, I promise…

So, this brings us to now. Halloween has just made an exciting addition to our family tree. We have decided to bring 2 new players on board for 2009 and beyond. They are, J-Sin Nikou on guitar (H.M.R./Seventh Son/Hellbent) and Chris Buczek on drums (H.M.R./Overloaded/Hellbent). Both are accomplished writers and players with a long, impressive history in the Detroit metal scene. We are proud to bring them both into the family.

Now a 5 piece, (a goal we have been working toward for years), Halloween is finally back to work, working hard to finish the new record Terrortory (still being mixed & mastered by our brother Rob Brug) and preparing for the bands return to Germany to headline The Sword Brothers Festival in Andernoch in September of this year. Also appearing on the bill are metal legends Omen, Arakain, Hellish War, Thunder Rider, Enchanter, Steel Raiser, Zarpa, Barbarian and Goddess of Desire. For more info go to Sword Brothers.de. We are rehearsing material for shows here at home as well, look to see us live this summer (showing off the new team). We’ve only had 3 rehearsals, so far, and it already sounds and feels amazing. We are planning some new features to add to our stage show, and dusting off some classic Halloween songs too, (ones we haven’t played in years). We are excited about the progress and we know you’re going to love it too. We can’t wait to see you, live and in person.

Brian Thomas

Halloween is:

Chris Buczek - Drums
J-Sin Nikou - Guitar
Don Guerrier - Guitar
George Neal - Bass
Brian “T” Thomas - Vocals

Keep us on your radar…more info coming soon!!!

P.S. “DON’T METAL WITH EVIL” in its entirety “live” @ Sword Brothers. It’s gonna rock… can’t wait!!!

MASTERMIND NEWS

March Update

March 06th, 2009 | Category: Mastermind, News, music

A brief progress report. The Bill Berends guitar instrumental solo album is nearly finished and sounding fantastic! More details coming soon, but this will be out in the first half of this year one way or another, either with a label or independently. Also, most of the drum tracks for the new Mastermind material are recorded and working to completion will begin in earnest once the guitar album is wrapped up.

After a brutally cold winter I can’t wait to get back out into the world with all new music!
