Singapore’s old school deathmetal band formed in the mid of 2002. The founder of the band Vinod whose obessession with technical guitaring and lead guitaring finally decided to start his own band. A one man band which the idea was suggested by Wade from his previous band finally had infinite freedom to explore and experiment with his own ideas. He had always been influenced by bands and artists such as Carcass, Obituary, Arch enemy, Megadeth, Kirk Hammett(Metallica), Marty Friedman, Steve Vai, Jason becker and his all time favourite band, Death(R.I.P. Chuck Shuldiner). After composing a couple of songs, he realised that it'll be almost impossible to do recordings since he didn't have much experience on drummings. One night Vinod met up with his close friend Seelan, and showed the songs he had came up with. Seelan was impressed and wanted to play drums for those songs. Without any hesitations or second thoughts Seelan was welcomed into the band. Seelan with his old school thrash metal, grindcore and double peddling drumming incorporated well with the songs and was essential for the band’s old school deathmetal sounding.
The band was without a name then. Therefore Seelan suggested the name, "Predatory". Vinod a great fan of the movie, ‘Predator’ accepted it and decided that the band be called ‘Predatory’. Predatory planned to have a demo done soon. Since Vinod needed to finish the recording by the end of july as he needed the time to prepare for his final year exams. After 3 Jamming sessions with hardwork and dedication, they headed for the studio(TNT) on july 16 2002 with a tight budget. Predatory was without a vocalist then and Seelan did vocals for the Demo. 3 songs were recorded from the then 2 man band, Existence – Escutcheon, Lesser form of me and Ideas to ponder.
