BRENDON SMALL playing DETHKLOK, FACTORY SYNDICATE, MINISTRY OF PAIN, & ASH MONDAY
There's nothing like going to a show with a few good friends. My wife and I headed out to the all ages show at the Starland Ballroom with six of our friends. What we experienced that night was nothing like what we were expecting to see. Call it false advertising; call it misleading; we call it bullshit.
The first two bands, ASH MONDAY and MINISTRY OF PAIN, sucked. I have nothing good to say about them at all.
FACTORY SINDICATE were pretty good. This band blends elements of Harcore, Metal, and (ghasp) Old School Rap(??) to bring to the table a more interesting band. Complete with a DJ who mixed in samples of various metal tunes, FACTORY gave a high energy show with an interesting twist. Chuck from DEATH would be so happy that all these genres of music are coming together under one roof.
BRENDON SMALL playing DETHKLOK should have been the highlight of the night. It wasn't......not even a little. Sure, Mr. Small opened his set with "Murmaider" (which was AWESOME), but then the show took a drastic turn. You see, Mr. Small was on stage with the "Kids from School of Rock". Cover songs were played the rest of the night. Everything from Guns N' Roses to Megadeth was performed. Sure, these kids were very talented, BUT this is NOT what I paid to come see. I didn't pay to see some kids get their chance to have a "Rock Star Moment" and butcher staples in heavy metal history. NO....I came to hear DETHKLOK, and I heard TWO DETHKLOK songs. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!!?!?!? Too bad my friends and I cannot get our money refunded for false advertising.
