OVERLORDE PRESS RELEASE JUNE 13, 2010

Interview on WSOU 89.5 FM this coming Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Overlorde guitarist Mark 'M.E.' Edwards and vocalist Bobby 'Leather Lungs' Lucas will be live on-air for an interview at WSOU 89.5FM this coming Wednesday, June 16th. The interview will be with DJ Captain Morgan during his weekly Epic and Power metal show STORMING THE RAMPARTS. The show can be heard on the radio in the NYC area and also streams online at www.wsou.net. It airs from 10:00pm to Midnight east coast time.

Besides discussing the band's history and future, they will be airing their un-released cover of the Queensryche classic QUEEN OF THE REICH.

Overlorde's song SNOW GIANT is receiving airplay on WSOU and is used as the background music for the station's 'L-Cut' promo. Feel free to request Overlorde on WSOU any time they are air rock or metal (which is basically every day except Sundays).

Playboy Magazine's May 2010 issue rated WSOU "Best College Radio Station".

I don't think I'll be doing a Metal Massacre show this year. I am still pretty banged up from the car accident, and as a result I am having a LOT of difficulty playing guitar. Performing, of course, is a courtesy from COMBAT and something I don't HAVE to do; it seems I still need to take things easy, as my body will not allow me to stand for long periods of time & my reflexes & grip are equivilent to a child's. I sadly do not foresee myself playing guitar again for some time.

In the mean time, keep it tuned here. As you can see, I've been keeping the dust off this zine with lots of new material. I intend to keep the updates going.....I intend to keep going. I thank you all for undying support. The flame still burns here, and it always will.

Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are slowly killing Metal

Lately and basically for a long time, I've been worrying about the future state of traditional metal, the one true metal. The resurrection of this dominating music the past few years has been a complete breath of fresh air. During the '90's record companies decided to throw all metal music out the window. Lets face facts, at the end there were a lot of shitty bands getting signed, but they threw the good bands out along with the bad ones. Now that metal is back full force, it's time to see where metal is headed.

What concerns me is the upcoming tours with bands such as Priest and Maiden. Why is it, that these bands do not bring along on their tours some of the newer true metal bands that will help push metal into the next generation and beyond? For instance, Judas Priest with be touring with Whitesnake. Great package but who else is on the bill?...Popevil. They look like a an interesting band but they are not metal. How is true metal to survive if none of the new bands get to play in front of a larger audience and expose their style of true metal? And Iron Maiden...I've seen them with Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium. These are good bands but when I go to a metal show, that's what I want to see...metal bands. You can argue that I'm closed minded but most metal heads are. We just want metal..not nu metal, not modern metal or whatever they call it. Plus how many times are do we have to sit through Lauren Harris? Sorry, I know her dad is just trying to help her but other bands have cut their teeth in the clubs playing every night and with out a famous dad getting them in the door. They are many bands that have put in the time and energy that have earned to be on these type of shows. The first band that comes to my mind that would of fit perfectly in either one of these tours....the Swedish band WOLF. They perform metal the true, traditional way. Other bands are Lionsshare and Ram (all Swedish bands. Damn I gotta move there). You may have other preferences but you get my drift, there are tons of deserving bands.

KISS always had brought along bands just starting out. Priest and Maiden were amongst them as well as Accept and countless others. KISS always gave the upcoming bands a shot. It may have been of a financial nature on KISS's part but they had the best lineups. Priest and Maiden seemed to have forgotten this and should start giving back to the true metal community so the torch can keep burning into the future. Without the founding fathers helping to plant the seeds, a new crop of metal will never grow. Instead of worrying about the next edition of Guitar Hero, they should wonder about the future state of metal.

Some will not agree and will say that's just the way the progression of metal is. I can understand that, but true metal is more than music, it's a true community. I've been very blessed to perform in Germany a few times and they've always treated us like we've know them for years. God damn, that's special!!! That's something you don't have in other forms of music. So I think it's worth it to carry on true metal music for generations to come. I am concerned because I am a metal head first, musician second. If you do agree with my statements, pass it on. Maybe someone up stairs will listen and we can get to see some of the new upcoming bands of metal along with great ones. If not, just remember, it was Priest and Maiden that killed true metal.


I FU@KING AGREE!!!!! Let's see IRON MAIDEN take bands like VIRGIN STEELE, CAGE, STORMWITCH, HALLOWEEN, and many others on tour with them. Even give the LOCAL BANDS a chance to open the show, like ARCTIC FLAME, GODS OF FIRE, MARTYRD, PHOENIX REIGN, ZANDELLE, MAGUS BEAST.....the array of talent from this area is SO abundant!!! If only..............

Hello metal fans. It's been a long time since I've last updated, but I've been working on things the whole time. After putting on shows, doing things behind the scenes, and even playing my first live gig, I've finally been able to get around to dusting off UF a little. There's a new RECORD REVIEW posted, and this is a band worth reading about. Cheers to Australia's DOWNRIVER!!

JUDAS PRIEST ROAR BACK WITH AN INSTANT EPIC, ‘NOSTRADAMUS’ ON MULTIPLE CLASSIC FORMATS & A WORLD TOUR

Think ‘Double vinyl, gatefold sleeve concept album,’ and some of rock’s all-time classic recordings come to mind. But in the realm of heavy metal, there has never been a double vinyl (now disc!) concept album that has managed to balance a thought-provoking storyline with metallic thunder. That was, until now. Metal legends JUDAS PRIEST will be releasing their sprawling double disc concept album, ‘Nostradamus’ via Columbia Records on Monday, June 16th in the UK/Europe, and a day later in the US on Epic Records.

Long in the works, ‘Nostradamus’ takes epic storytelling to a whole new level, as it recounts the life of this mysterious, world-known 16th Century French prophet. Some of the events that Nostradamus experts have interpreted as his predictions include the great fire of London in 1666, the rise of Adolf Hitler, and most recently, 9-11, among countless other renowned events.

“As in any concept piece, the lifeline needs to be of a solid source, taking the music over many levels of interest and perception,” points out singer Rob Halford. “Nostradamus’ contains new frontiers explored and defined. The sense of adventure and the journey we undertook bringing the man’s life alive with metal was a real labour of love.”

As with all new Priest releases, the group - singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis - will embark on a mammoth worldwide tour in support of ‘Nostradamus.’ Priest will be performing at the 2008 Download Festival - on a bill also featuring Kiss - which will serve as a ‘homecoming’ of sorts for the group, as they performed at the first-ever ‘Monsters of Rock Festival’ at Donington Park in 1980.

Since 1974, Judas Priest has been one of heavy metal’s most successful bands, issuing such all-time classic albums as 1980’s ‘British Steel,’ 1982’s ‘Screaming for Vengeance,’ and 1990’s ‘Painkiller,’ and such arena-rocking anthems as “Breaking the Law,” “Living After Midnight,” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.” However, Priest’s influence goes far beyond their music - they were the first metal band to embrace the ‘leather biker look,’ a fashion that has since become synonymous with the musical genre. Additionally, Halford’s powerful four-and-a-half octave vocal range and the twin guitar harmonies of Downing and Tipton have been ‘studied’ by countless metal bands in Priest’s wake.

“The 'Nostradamus' album - above all others - is perhaps the one I'm most proud of,” says Tipton. “Whilst in essence and character still very much Judas Priest, it has afforded the opportunity to explore areas of classical and operatic dimensions that the band normally wouldn't. As a guitarist and writer it has inspired me to greater heights and opened new doors to intrigue and passion. From start to finish, it will take you through a magical experience filled with light, shade, drama, melody and emotion that reflects this unique man and his life.”

“For me, ‘Nostradamus’ has been a musical journey without comparison,” adds Downing. “The intrigue and mystery that surrounds this revered man has expanded my perception of heavy metal to the highest plateau and enabled me to reach the outer limits of my imagination and transport unique feelings and emotions to the instrument that allows me to express myself.”

In addition to the regular jewel case double CD version of the album, collectors will undoubtedly be interested in hunting down a copy of a Deluxe Double CD housed in a 48 page hardbound book package. But that’s not all - a Super Deluxe Box-set version will also be available with triple vinyl, the double CD, an expanded booklet & a poster.

Most bands of this high stature would be happy to play it safe. But not Judas Priest, who continue to take chances and break new ground. No other rock band could have pulled off such a grand statement, and Judas Priest have raised the bar once more with ‘Nostradamus.’

As to why they chose to make a concept album about Nostradamus, Tipton explains: “We didn't - he chose us. We feel it was meant to be!”

SKULLSHIFTER begin mixing "Inner Demons"

SKULLSHIFTER, the New Jersey-based metal band featuring former INSANIAC members Tom Nolz and CJ Scioscia, as well as former EXXPLORER bassist J. McCaffrey, has completed the recording process and is now in mixing mode for their upcoming full-length CD, "Inner Demons". Armed with the wealth of experience gained through working with producer Simon Efemy on SKULLSHIFTER's debut 3-song EP "Here in Hell" in 2005, this new 9-song effort is being produced entirely by the band at Scioscia's studio, Le Chateau Bow Wow Recording, in Watchung, NJ.

With tracking beginning in September, 2007, and striving for nothing less than crushing metal perfection, the last piece of the puzzle was added this past Thursday as ROSS THE BOSS (THE DICTATORS, ex-MANOWAR) added his unmistakable lead guitar shredding to the song "Etched In Sand". Once again, SKULLSHIFTER will tap Alan Douches of West West Side Music for the mastering duties when mixing is completed.

SKULLSHIFTER's "Inner Demons" CD release event is scheduled to coincide with their appearance at NEW JERSEY HEAVY METAL MASSACRE 3 on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ. The evening will also feature performances by DTA, COMBAT, MARTYRD and ETHEREAL COLLAPSE. Additional details and updates will be available at:

Dear readers,

The last few months have been filled with both happy and sad times in my life. As my wedding approached, my time became more and more scarce. I always kept this webzine on my mind; it's a part of me, and I'd like to think it's a small part of you and the metal scene.

Right before the last True Metal America show in October, I got sick. It was nothing major, or so I thought. After that weekend, which was also right before my bachelor party, I had a panic attack. I was under so much stress and pressure. After a trip to the doctor, I was about on my feet again.

I got married Sunday, October 28. It was awesome; we had such a great time. Mostly everyone we invited came; unfortunately I was very upset from the absence of a very close friend of mine, who I have yet to hear from. When Shannon and I were introduced as husband and wife, we came out to some good old SLAYER. The bridal party came out to VIRGIN STEELE's "Marriage of Heaven and Hell". Our honeymoon followed that Friday. We visited Italy for 9 days and London England for 3 or 4. WE made our pilgramage to the legendary Ruskin Arms, where IRON MAIDEN had their first gig. It was really cool \m/

Thanksgiving was fun, and since the honeymoon, I've been trying to get the Thank You cards out, stay on my photographer so I can get my pics, and keep and eye on things. More trouble follows.......

I was lucky enough to see ANGELES DEL INFIERNO on Saturday, December 1 and also my friends GODS OF FIRE on Tuesday, December 18. NOW here comes the trouble........

Wednesday, December 19, I had severe chest pains again and was hospitalized up until this writing. Four hellish days in the hospital REALLY depressed me, but I had my wife, my AWESOME friends, and family visit me to keep my spirits up. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have cared about shit, and would have laid there and died. I have undergone MANY tests, needles, and other shit. I missed precious time at work, my friend's birthday, and other shit. I am NOT 100% yet. I am still quite ill. Rest assured, 2008 will mark a new begining for myself AND this webzine.

Thank you for reading this. I don't know when the next update will be, but I'm still here. I am still a phone call away for those of you who have my number.

In an attempt to revive the long-forgotten camaraderie and sheer entertainment of the old infamous L'Amours and Ritz metal scenes, several New York City bands and supporters have organized a new series of shows under the moniker Metal Meltdown. Bands that will perform are: SANATARIUS, ZANDELLE, GODS OF FIRE, TURRIGENOUS and UNTIL DESTINY.

BROOKLYN METALFEST ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

It is with Great Pleasure that we announce the Second annual BROOKLYN METALFEST to take place at the Hook on Friday June 22nd and Saturday June 23rd. This year’s event will be a TWO-DAY FESTIVAL with the first band hitting the stage at 7pm on Friday and at 12 noon on Saturday. Admission will be $15 dollars for single day tickets and $20 for two day passes. There will also be a FREE BBQ for all paid admissions (FREE FOOD ONLY).

This year’s festival is really shaping up to be a killer event. Since my inactivity on the net, I've done another TRUE METAL AMERICA show with BOB MITCHELLE (see below, the ROB ORIANI benefit show!)....it was GREAT. Much appreciated also are Dan Kurfirst's (Scribes Of Fire, Stoneman, CarpeDiemEnvy) contributions who was always on call if we needed a drummer and saved our asses back in March when we needed someone behind the kit.

Commendations run all the way down to the guy you've seen with us the last 13 times around NY, NJ, MD and...elsewhere, Jaimen Shinn. What could be said about this guy except for the fact taht it was a sick roller coaster ride. He kept us alive and played many awesome shows including the opening slots for Cellador and Testament. He moved on to concentrate on his band Catalyst Of Thought, which ya'll should definately check out. His work can be heard on our player with the live version of Coma Dreams.

I couldn't have done this for the first time with a better group of musicians. They were friendly, professional, and very encouraging. Although I am posting this a little late, be assured that I have paid my respect and grieved along with my friends over the loss of this man. Rob will be missed by many, and his work shall live on!

ATTACKER frontman Bob Mitchell has issued the following statement:

"It is with heavy heart and deep sadness which I must inform you that my dear friend and brother Rob Oriani has passed away. He died of a heart attack while at work on Saturday. I was honored to know him and I will keep his family and those closest to him in prayer. His contribution to the metal world is our VYNDYKATOR album 'Heaven Sent From Hell' to which he was one of the prominent writers. I will post VYN's music on my personal MySpace site in tribute to him.

"Words cannot convey nor lend itself to emotions at this point.

"I love you, Rob, and I will miss you tremendously, dear brother.

WELCOME TO TRUE METAL AMERICA! The Concert Series created exclusively for the Undergound Heavy Metal resurgence here in the United States!

2006 has proven to be a great year for us and we will continue our ongoing tradition of presenting you, the fans of Heavy Metal, the very best bands from around the world! We thank our family of bands that have participated and have promised to continue on with our cause! Most of the bands that you've had the good fortune of witnessing live will make their return to the stages of TRUE METAL AMERICA in the months to come.

For the benefit of those of you who may be new to TMA, here is a quick overview. These events will not invlove SPONSORS, AGENTS, PROMOTERS and especially PAY TO PLAY POLICIES. It is that very policy that has caused decension in our scene. This series of concerts will take place in smaller venues where you fans will able to catch some of the very best cult Heavy Metal bands that you've read about but have never seen in a live setting!

Our shows will be reasonably priced and will also feature the best local bands as "Special Guests" who will have the privilage of sharing the stage with the Giants of the Underground. All of our bands that will be invited as our "Special Guests" will NOT be required to sell tickets. They will open our shows simply because they are great, quality acts.

Future, upcoming shows will feature some great underground icons such as RAM, VORTEX, MANILLA ROAD, METAL INQUISITOR, HALLOWS EVE, DEADLY BLESSING, ELIXIR, THE HANDSOME BEASTS, SACRED OATH, DANTESCO, ATTACKER, TWISTED TOWER DIRE, RAVENSTHORN, ICARUS WITCH, CLOVEN HOOF, just to name a few. For any of my readers not following my MySpace bulletins, I've been on the long road to recovery these past few months. I've been dealing with a serious back injury since July, and have only recently been able to seek the proper medical doctors to aid in my recovery. The two NJHM MASSACRE shows were the final "Straw that broke the camel's back", as I had really did a LOT of damage to my back from hauling all that gear and standing on my feet all those hours. Was it worth it?? YES!!! I'll elaborate on that next update. I'm on the tail end of my vactation time right now, and I've got a TON of new stuff to post. Look for another update soon (perhapse tomorrow). It's good to somewhat be back, and thank you to everyone for their wishes of good health to me.

I want to personally thank my fiance, Shannon Brehme, for sticking by me thru all this crap. Thanks to my "Family" - Ray Morse, Chris O'Brien, Rich Barilla, Mike DelVecchio, and all the guys!
Thanks also to all my friends in DEVILS ISLAND, VICTIM OF PAIN, NIHILIST, AXEMASTER, ATTACKER, SPEED CHAMBER, and anyone else I forgot to mention.
