Cirith Ungol Webpit was hacked and injection (zip) with at least "Team neonorv", "BananaXTn" and "lagoon_tri" in September 2020. But this was amateurish, not really secure.
Edit: I now have my backup, but it will be more secured. Later.
Why have I not heard this ????? Long-time fan!!!!

Great title!
Hi,
I got this vinyl from Liquid Flame Records, but the year is 1981 (HM13666)!?
Cossack
You are perhaps right. It was recorded December 1980. Released on Enigma Records 31 Jan 1981. Released on Liquid Flame Records somewhere between that. Have read both years multiple places though. HM13666, isn't that the catalogue number for the Enigma edition?
I don’t find any mention of Enigma, only Liquid Flame Records... There’s a mailing list as well (to "fill out and return to be placed on Cirith Ungol’s International List") with adress:
Liquid Flames Productions
349N. Aliso, Suite A
Ventura, CA, U.S.A. 93001
Maybe it’s reissue...?
Wikipedia sais:
Originally released by Cirith Ungol on Liquid Flames Records in 1980, the album was re-released in 1981 by Enigma Records
Metal-Archives also sais 1980.
I dunno, 1981 is probably corrects since thats what is written on your LP.
Yes, I read it too... But it doesn't matter - 80 or 81 - it's great album and that's important!
Thanx and cheers
A runoff matrix is the # on the vinyl next to the label. If you hold the vinyl at the right angle in the light you can see it impressed or etched into the run off at the end of each side. this is where the HM13666 number comes from. So an LF001 is an HM13666. Liquid Flame is Cirith Ungol's label, they created it so they could put there LP out. The Liquid Flame LF001 is their self release. The only other album you'll find released on Liquid Flame records is Falcon S/T CD, this is because Rob Garven is the drummer for Falcon.
Don't make me do this,i just picked the one i used to do the heaviest head banging when i was young...!
so nice , thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing
I'm the winner of this LP
A movie? um ... it seems a little bit terrifying!
......I.......
Where can I get this record or how can I contact the band? I've tried sending mail to spiroscbr600@yahoo.gr many months ago, but either the mail is not in use, or they just haven't answered. Too bad, because I really like this band.
I can't even find it for download.
Esta e original muito foda !!!

i want to know the meaning of this picture!
nice post , thanks for sharing!

Excellent album! Excellent band! Perry, Greg and Darrin have created a hard rock classic for the ages. Perry is a well seasoned pro guitarist that pulls off more hooks than a deep sea fishing boat. The elements of Cirith Ungol are present along with the Thin Lizzy and Mountain influences. Great stuff, give it a listen. The double leads in Elfland's Daughter is worth the cost of the disc alone! Possibly the most thoughtful lyrics since early Blue Oyster Cult who I always considered the thinking man's metal band. Greg Lindstrom, the master on the bass, so good it's scary. Check out the first Falcon album as well, it's also a 9 out of 10.
I finally got hold of this bootleg. It's being sold on eBay once in a while, so it should be available to anyone who wants it. It will probably be a little overpriced though. Anything between $25-65 could be expected. There's no need to pay more than that, as it most probably will be listed again soon enough! The CD consists of two parts; Live at Roxy Club 1983 (track 1-7) and Live in Santa Barbara (track 8-12). The cover artwork of Elric is great of course, the booklet is quite good too. It has words by Rob and Greg, and a lot of pics inside.
The real attraction here is the first part, Live at Roxy Club 1983, where most of the King of the Dead album is played. Three of the songs has never officially been released live before, that is Black Machine, Death of the Sun and Finger of Scorn. The soundquality is unfortunately not great. The highlight for me here is Finger of Scorn, which is presented in a quite different version from the album version. The accoustic intro and interlude is different, and Tim doesn't "scream" as much, but sings in a much softer style, which serves this semi-ballad well.
The songs of the second part, Live In Santa Barbara, have already officially been released on Servants of Chaos in 2001. They were recorded 1984/85. The sound quality here is very good.
Please guys do NOT support bootlegers, those are lost money gone to some wise guy that released this!
I have this live recordings in my possession for many years but never thought to make a cover with Elric and release a bootleg cd!
If the band wanted it, they would have done so and make a profit out of it!
Having these songs in your p.c is one thing and release them as a bootleg cd is another.
Please stop buing bottlegs!
With all do respect
Ioannis
Thanks for the tip, Marcus.
I know that many people with good reasons are against bootlegs and I fully respect their views. Personally I have been buying bootlegs the last 15 years or so, mostly bootlegs with rare tracks. Bootlegs are often the only way to get the stuff - at least 15 years ago. CU them self doesn't seem to have very much against bootlegs either. See Rob's words in the Diabolical Conquest interview, + Tim shared a link where one could download a CU bootleg.
There are different types of bootlegs.
Counterfeits are good replacements when the original record is impossible to find without being Sherlock Holmes and Bill Gates at the same time. I prefer having a bootleg of the CD/LP than not having it at all, or just on mp3.
Bootlegs with unreleased live recordings or songs are very interesting for me if I already have all what has been officially released. I may be wrong, but I don't know if it's true that if the band would like to release their live recordings officially, they would just do it. CU has wanted to release a live album since 1986. (see the Suck City interview). It much depends on the record companies. I also don't think that a crappy bootleg would stop the fans from buying an awesome official live album with superb quality.
Just my opinion...
goood job! especially the Summoning the Apocalypse!!
wooow?useful information!
I just got this from eBay. It is a bootleg album recorded live at the Country Club, Resada, 14 Oct 1983. The sound quality is decent and there's a pause of silence between each track. The booklet has some liner notes written by The Battle Axe Team. It is stated that it is a "Fan produced bootlegg recording 1983". The CD is as expected a CD-R, like all other bootlegs by Battle Axe. Fans who read the tracklist will get excited to find out about a song listed as "Bastard". This song is sadly just Master of the Pit. I don't know why they chose to call it Bastard, either it was actually called Bastard before it was renamed to Master of the Pit on the album, or they called it to draw attention and sell more CD's. Either way it really sounds like Tim could be saying "this song is called... Bastard" at the beginning of the song, but I'm unable to hear it properly. This CD is not a must, but a nice item for die-hard fans. Best version after one spin: I'm Alive.
The band members need to jump on this ASAP. Even if it's something like a fan funded official live release. They must have some soundboards tapes that would be worth releasing themselves for the fans, that way they beat the bootleggers at their own game. I know I would be glad to pay between $15.00 & $25.00 for an official bootleggs series from the band themselves. Many bands have gone the route of asking the fans to pay up front to cover the production of the Cd's themselves. Just a thought. I'd love to have copies of these boots but I will not pay some dirt bag making money off of a band that could use the money for THEIR art. Oh yeah and limited to 100 copies my ass! How many editions of 100 copies will they end up pressing in the long run? The band members are the only ones who have the right to sell their recordings. Bootlegs should be traded for free or not at all!!!!!
No doubt my least favourite of this album. Still a good song though.
The most commercial song on this album but I think it's well placed between lots of heavy stuff. It's a solid fast rockin tune and I like it a lot.
it seems very coool!
I just want, I just want a little fire!
if this is not a 1st of April joke, it is the best news since the invention of the delay effect
Good God, here is my cash. Take it, take it quick.
Greatest musical news I have heard in the last decade--right up there with Maiden and Priest reforming with their greates singers. Hail to the Master's of the Pit!
Well said Mark. This was of course just a 1st of April hoax
If this WAS an April fools joke, I am going to slam my head into a wall and castrate myself with a #2 pencil...
can't say that I was opposed to the release of 'servants' just was never contacted before it came out if my memory is correct..as far as vocals go i still play rock band with the kids..ha..ha Tim B.
Any kind of new music by these guys would be welcome by me. I rather dislike the metal without melody that's been passed around since 1990. I'm old school but probably younger than old Sabbath or BOC fans.
Cirith Ungol is my all time favorite band and I'm not just saying that because I love Moorcock. The creativity and originality of their work is second to none in my opinion.
Kevin Gibbs
Well, the closest option I have to seeing them live is to make small figurines of Cirith Ungol playing on a small stage, blast their music loudly and do some peyote.
I would give all the money I have to see CU unite and play live here in Omaha. Been a fan for years and I've had my two Cirith Ungol pins on my patch jacket ever since Greg sent them to me with the shirt I ordered. Best band ever, inspired by all the books I grew up on.
Pretty cool.
Thanks for sharing - haven't seen Tim in years - He looks great!!!
My only complaint is that we were too young by the time we recorded this version. The whole demo was recorded in less than 20 hours, the sound sucks pretty bad, and I personally think I was not skilled enough when doin' that. But it's still awesome to be part of the first CU tribute ever made!
THIS IS AWESOME!
FUCK YEAH!
I almost forgot myself and thought i was listening to Jerry sometimes there...!
Can you make 2-3XLT sizes?
I don't know how often he reads here, so I recommend you to ask him on eBay. Link above, or you probably alternatively ask him by too by sending him an email at Falcon.
My cousin wants one of these hoodies, but it seems they're sold out.. Is there any way that they might be more soon? Medium or large?
I want one (L).
The blac machine is definetely a dragon custom made 2 wheels ride!!!
Coool design!!!
i want one
Grande banda, TEM Seu Lugar Garantido pro resto dos Tempos! Itamar (Brasil)
BITCHIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to buy a large back patch like this -> http://www.truemetal.org/cirithungol/images/uploaded/patch_redblacklogo.jpg ... BUT ! I can't find, can you help me ?
Not me, sorry. Try contacting all the sellers listed above, and hopefully one of them can help you.
Great coversong! Probably my least favourite song from Paradise Lost, but it seems it works out much better live than on the flat studioversion. Enjoyable feelgood song!
marco concoreggi for president!!!!
very cool-sounds great also
Here is another recording of the same performance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ-AgncqWKs
Good to see some bands bringing some elements of the legends of Cirith Ungol to their current audiences. Not my favorite track from CU but, it does sound pretty cool.
I got me this aweseome shirt a while back. I would love to see a few more possible designs-- or the cover of King of the Dead!
Wrote too soon-- I see there is such a shirt- if it is in my size- I'll get it.
I have two of these as longsleeves in different sizes.
I also have the King of the Dead-shirt, great shirt, but I'm not sure
if it's official. If a shirt is too large for me, I just pull it over a
hoodie, and tadah!
Love this band! This better not be a joke! The legion has been awaiting this news for ages. What about Jim though?
I fear it's April Fools Day...
Unfortunetly I'm guessing this is an April fools joke.
According to posts on Tim's Facebook page Jim is itching for a jam session. It would be cool to have 2 guitars.
I confirm that the news regarding the return of CIRITH UNGOL is an April fools joke! Unfortunately....!!!
I wish the news was true!!!! Praise the band and celebrate the music!!!! CIRITH UNGOL will remain one of my Top-5 favorite ever bands. Forever!!!
They did this last year. But I'm serious here.
How is this April fools "joke" even the slightest bit funny??? Oh man.
Hello, I would like to interview Cirith Ungol for a spanish fanzine: www.myspace.com/boneyardzine . But I don't find any contact with them!! Please can you tell me about?? Thank you.
hey dani..scott campbell here...hope this finds you well...i have additional stuff for you...
prophecy- original "go it alone" demo/w jimmy
and additional prophecy demo "buried alive" (jimmy recently posted a bootleg recording on you tube)
also live rehersals of prophecy with jimmy recorded ...
and much other related stuff...let me know where to send....
take care
Hello, I'm wondering who might have a brand new, factory sealed copy of the Paradise Lost CD on Noble Rot for sale at a reasonable price. Thank you from an old Cirith Ungol fan.
Comments by Nick Papakostas of Convixion added!
Great cover IMO, Papakostas, the singer, looks and sounds very passionate. Would be nice to hear more Ungol covers from these guys.
Ι think this the right attitude to treat CIrith Ungol, well done guys you did great!
Hope their Iron Maiden cover Twilight Zone will be included as well!
That is the supreme idea. Is that possible to receive the cool ringtones or ringtones at this page?
Where do I get a Falcon patch??

One of my alltime favourite Ungolsongs. Simply awesome!
Yep! Great Song and amazing performances!
this is probably my fave Ungol song ever. It really brings me to tears, it's an incredible depiction of mankind's greatest fears, yet it's charming and beautiful. Jerry's solo is something beyond human, the arpeggios are mindblowing. What a song.
this is probably my fave Ungol song ever. It really brings me to tears, it's an incredible depiction of mankind's greatest fears, yet it's charming and beautiful. Jerry's solo is something beyond human, the arpeggios are mindblowing. Tim's voice is probably at its top. What a song.
as a young metalhead in the mid to late 80's my best friend and i would listen to this record over and over.
i have not heard this particular track in nearly 25 years....it's even better than i remember. i'm currently playing it on youtube whilst scouring ebay for a copy of the record.
freakin awesome!!
This is a great interview-- very cool answers. Fallen Idols sounds awesome on Servants.
Well, I have to disagree with Greg here. I love this song, surely it's not a typical CU tune but damn, it rocks! The riff is great and I've always loved the lyrics.
Mediocre! The singer sucks and doesen't stand a chance, the main solo of the song mysteriously vanished, and the atmosphere, even if this is the most catchy song of paradise lost and not so atmospheric, here it sounds like a childish junior high school party.Sorry guys even if i'm used to Cirith Ungol crap cover versions having heard (ohh my God...) one foot in fire, i'm allways pissed off when someone tries to reach out and touch the masters of the pit.Go cover wotan or doomsword,i don't give a shit, but when it comes to C.U. i seriously do give a shit. Not only every attempt turns out lame, but a serious sacrilege too!So go it alone if you like, but save us from your lonesome...!
hmm.. I see it more as a fun hymn/tribute to one of their favourite bands, not as an attempt to outperform Cirith Ungol.
I can't believe it's Tim singing here.
Nice but page 2 is a little too small to read.
Try downloading it and zoom in!
I've added an online zoom-feature to it. Should be readable now.
I`m a chilean obssessed CIRITH UNGOL maniac, well; there are plenty of this stuff that deserves more attention from younger musicians like me and almost anybody (I`m 22 years old), and discovered servants of chaos on some virtual shop from my town, the last and only unit that nobody wants will be mine. King Of The Dead blew me away in a way very few albums of this kind could. Its crazy because there`s a very sad story behind all the magic and uniqueness of this band, and all that facts made a huge impression and made me also decide to devote my life entirely to music, I live almost alone with very few people that cannot be baptized as friends, altrhough I composed some death metal stuff; actually I`m a huge fan of 70`s rock and roll.
Cirith Ungol made me decide to dedicate my entire life to the guitar since I first listened their band`s name song. and that will never change. cheers.
Thanks Rob. Jerry's death so long ago, i just discovered recently that news. Thats for that post Rob. I post quite a bit on really obscure sites in the hope they are read or discovered. I will most definely continue to contribute. The Cirith Ungol webpit allows this. Cirith Ungol band members and loyal fans have shouldered and kept Cirith Ungol alive. Jerry is still with the band except in a different way.
Sad. Not only that Jerry died, but also the fact that he was so depressed because of the band not receiving the credit and recognition they deserved.
Cirith Ungol was definitely one of the finest metal bands ever, and the fact that they still have a huge fan base is the best proof.
If the world we live in was ruled by justice and logic and if music world was ruled by music lovers and not by money-hungry sharks, Jerry would now be a guitar-icon like Eddy Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix or Yngwie Malmsteen. I'm talking as a guitar player and as a fan, he had a true unique style. His use of a raw alternate picking mixed with arpeggios and dream-like melodies still amazes me. The double leads he created on "Cirith Ungol" and "Nadsokor" are some of the best things I've ever heard from a six string... Rest in peace Jerry, I really want to think my love for your music can reach you, wherever you are.
I knew Jerry in those (early to mid 70s and 80s) days in Ventura fantastic player nice guy the real deal for sure! RIP
he was great guitarist, when I listen he for first time, in King of the dead albun, I think sound like mystic, like tony Iommi.
Cirith Ungol was a great band, and Jerry a talented and awesome guitar player!! I remember back 1987 when my brother and I bought the album King Of The Dead. Was love at first listen. I remember much people here in my town just didn´t understand why we liked so much the band, but for us they where great and still is up today. RIP Jerry, you were underated by the mainstream, but you were great for we the fans!!!
Great guy!
That review is way too harsh.
Pretty Spinal Tap, actually. Xavier should've said "Shit sandwich." It would've made him that much more credible.
Different strokes for different folks, but I think Frost and Fire and King of the Dead are landmark heavy metal albums!
As it is said, journalists didn't know what to make of the uniqueness of Ungol, and what to compare them to. Guess it's the same story for Manilla Road. They had really bad reviews when their 80's album were new, but now over 20 years later they all are praised and considered classics. Frost and King are indeed landmark HM albums.
Btw, what's that flag you got?
You can't expect too much from a guy who wrote a book about Metallica!
Uh... Dani, does this site automatically give you a flag based on your IP addy? If so, where's the bloody Southern Cross! :P
Yes, supposed to. hostip.info wasn't doing it's job, so I just updated their database.
When was this recorded? - Looks like it was a fun night!
Add your comments here!
Just testing.
Hi All! Tip my hat to all those involved in this site. It looks really high standard website. I look forward to exploring it. The Michael Whalen art looks fantastic. A Bayarea Cirith Ungol fan!
Hey dude, Awesome SIte! I almost did the artwork for the cover on CIrith Ungols Tribute "One Foot in Fire" However communication and collaboration with Bart Gabriel somehow got mixed up and things didn't work out. Kind of a bummer! But I still have those images I did if you want to use them for your site. He never used them, there was no contracts. ONe image is a collage of images from their cd covers. The other is a hand drawn/photoshop colored image of Elric of melbourne. If you need any additional "original" Cirith Ungol Artwork created for your website bro. Don't be afraid to ask. Not looking for money! I am a HUGE Cirith Ungol Fan and I'd be happy to help out
Great website. I love it. Thanks for putting forth the effort.
Awesome site, my most sincere congratulations. I learned a lot about one of my fave bands ever, thanks a lot. Greetings from Spain, with one foot in Hell!
Hail To The Ungol Legion!
You all may remember me, Greg Hazard, Cirith Ungol's official photographer from Frost and Fire's release' till the very end. I was there for every concert performance, most band rehearsals and every recording studio session starting with King Of The Dead. I have many, many unrelesed photos from a decade worth of Ungol - when Metal truly was METAL!!!!!!!!!!

Celtic Frost isn`t a name from Cirith Ungol !
Interview with "Tom G. Warrior" :
I've always wondered where exactly the name Celtic Frost came from? I've read a few ideas on it but what is it's real meaning?
"It's very typical Martin and me. We just couldn't do it like any other band, we had to be different. We didn't want to have a metal clich? name. we wanted to have a synonym for the apocalypse. So we chose "Celtic" as representative of human civilizations and we used "Frost" as a sign of decay, of death, of standstill, when everything freezes and dies. We took the name "Frost" especially because after the winter, after the frost, there is always a new spring and life blossoms again and to us it reflected very much the coming and going of the different civilizations on this planet."
One thing I've wondered...I've heard the band name pronounced "Keltic Frost" I guess like from Ireland derivative of the Celts? And I've also heard people pronounce it like "Seltic Frost." Maybe you can set the record straight and tell us how it is supposed to be pronounced.
"The official way, the correct way, is "Keltic." That's how the band was formed too. However, you guys in North America, 90% of you guys call it "Seltic." Since Reed was in the band and Martin is a double citizen (he's American too), this "Seltic" thing crept into the band and half the time we ourselves said "Seltic" and half the time we said "Keltic." We caught ourselves, we tried to say "Keltic" but it's so hard when you have your main market in America, it just slips in."
Greetings !
Hello Friends! I write to You from Hungary again. Our new tribute album "True Spirit Carries On" is out now, and on this CD is a new version of Cirith Ungol's "I'm Alive" song! Our old version is deleted from youtube, but here's the new link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_nVs_PZ8qs

Spiritbell - Doomed Planet (Cirith Ungol cover)
HIGH FROM MÉXICO.
I LIKE CIRITH UNGOL, A BAND OF TRUE HEAVY METAL.
PLEASE, COME TO MÉXICO CITY...
Would be awesome to hear the song with vocals! Perry told me has the demo with bass, drums and vocals, but it's up to him (Greg) to release it as some point.
Pe Iris i-am atins! Pe AcDc nu o sa putem!
Totusi, un lucru este clar: defapt, ei sunt cei care pierd, poate o viitoare voce.
Yeah, just as cool as I expected, but fuck I am shocked at the comment directed toward Greg Lindstrom.....the man's a genius!
I'm not at all surprised that Rob said that. You simply have to understand that he spoke those words nearly 25 years ago, just after Greg left the band. Rob did and does feel that Frost & Fire is the most commercial thing CU did. Rob and Greg are still friends, and that stuff is all way under the bridge. Time passes and people realize they said things before they thought them out. They grow up! (Rob was in the process of getting over it even several months later in his HM Times interview.) Rob also said in Heavy Metal Times that "I feel that Greg's music was too introspective..." He hit the nail dead-on as far as why I prefer Frost & Fire over any CU album (although the stuff from Servants of Chaos with Greg on it is also a fave). "Edge of a Knife," "Better Off Dead" and "What Does It Take" speak to the social outsider like few songs I've ever listened to. In my opinion that's a good thing! Fantasy is awesome, but Greg was making some actual commentary on the trials and tribulations of going against the mindless herd, of alienation. ("They all seem different, but they're all the same...") Greg is decidely less into the metal machismo thing than Rob, and I can admire both. If Rob and Tim thought Greg was being "pussy" for writing those tunes at the time, so be it. Greg's lyrics--pun intended--strike more of a chord with me. "I'd put it down to experience / but I haven't had any yet" is a profound line, but obviously it's something Tim probably didn't feel like singing. Perhaps Greg should've stuck to singing it himself! I wouldn't have minded. It's definitely difficult when you're a songwriter/musician in a band and have to rely on a singer to deliver the vocals. I had the same problem...
CU had a backlog of songs from their early years, but they put a lot of Greg's more introspective "commercial" sounding tunes out first. I don't feel it was a bad move. "Frost & Fire" and "I'm Alive" are a bit different. The former is more of a Fritz Leiber (Fafhrd and Gray Mouser) homage ("the frost monstreme and the fire divine"), while "I'm Alive" sounds like it could be spoken by Moorcock's Elric himself.
Flint said he "looked up to Greg" and that he saw/heard Greg do things on bass that no one else could. I'll attest to that! As for "radical" and extremely heavy? If you heard the original rehearsal room recording of "One Foot in Hell" or "Cirith Ungol" c. 1976 you'd shit your pants!
Nice, but we are the BEST!

Couldn't disagree more with Fowley here. Nadsokor is awesome and with no doubt belongs to the best half of this album.
I'm btw very curious how the original version sounds like. Hope it will be a bonustrack on the new re-release. Rob said about the final album:
"You didn't hear the solo's of Jerry's tat were cut on OFIH or the unbelievable four part background vocals I did on 'Nadsokor' that never made it to the record. I also feel that it was mixed kind of flat."
This song rocks! This guy obviously didn't have his coffee that day.
Hey. I am the old drummer of this band and can't find the recordings anywhere. If i remember correctly, your studio was in Ventura CA. The myspace page isn't active anymore and would like the tracks for my portfolio.
Thanks,
Mike Hodgson
Hell Yeah, this is Righteous!
Can I comment...It's about time!!!!!
Yes, indeed! Personally I'd prefer the repress of Servants and the live DVD to be two separate releases, so people who already have the Servants album doesn't need to buy it again.
Great looking website you have here man and thanks a lot for the dedication to Cirith Ungol. I've been a pretty big fan from the very beginning and appreciate any and all who spend the time and effort to keep the memories alive.
Cheers from Humboldt County CA. behind the Redwood Curtain in the Emerald Triangle,
~M y c h e
Fuckin' A that's an awesome interview! I loved it. I agree, CU's sound has aged much better than the hair and trash bands in the early to mid 80s.
I can hardly listen to anything after Shout at the Devil or Master of Puppets from those genres.
Yes I thought it was quite cool. Especially since Primordial is a very cool band. Seen them live once at Hole in the Sky fesival. Discovered it by an accident. Curious what the follow-up albums will be....
Follow-ups are up! They are Trouble, Flotsam and Jetsam and Omen. All of them are great bands, especially Trouble. There's also some talk about Cirith Ungol in the Trouble-episode. Check them out!
What ever bacame of Mike Vujea, aka Flint?
i only know that Tim is still in contact with Flint. He (Tim) shared some photos with them both a year ago with Flint wearing a Tesla-shirt.
Why Not Rob ? just get back Tim , deep down he wants to perform again ... can't be any other way Tim's legacy is still alive , the legions are there waiting and you know what ? CU's material now is getting its precious value regognision ... Jesus man , I was just a little teen kid living in Athens = Greece and I remember the day I bought 'king of the dead' and put the vinyl in my record player as one of my best days ever !!! for sure one of my best metal days !!! Still I'm a metalhead and I know for a fact fans all over the HM community here are looking forward for a possible CU reunion . Actually we're looking forward for the hole package , new record , tours and of course a Huge CU concert here in Athens ! So Rob , what do u think ? ... best regards from Athens man , pls think about it !!!!
you guys won't be around forever. the death of dio beats that thought into our heads... so why not? you don't have to reactivate a dead career- just place even ONE show at a festival for us fans who were born too late. and as a tribute to the older fans who showed CU to us!
I was expecting this to happen soon, but at the same time unbelievable. Long live rock n' roll, Long live Ronnie James Dio!
Some of my favourite tracks with Dio on vocals:
Black Sabbath - Sign of the Southern Cross.
Dio - All The Fools Sailed Away
Ronnie anno 1960:
Even if it didn't come unexpected, this is still shocking. A terrible loss for all those with hearts and souls connected to Heavy Metal. He has always been there and has given us all so much. In eternal gratitude: Farewell Ronnie!
I have no idea who owns the mastertapes and rights for Paradise Lost. Something has for sure happened the last years, because PL was officially re-released by Noble Rot not long ago. Never heard about Noble Rot before though. I hope they will be able to re-release it anyway. If they re-release them as deluxe editions, it will be a win/win-situation for both the fans (who gets something new) and the band and label (who sells more).
I really wish the re-releases will be Deluxe Editions and cover all five albums, including Paradise and Servants, and that they will have a big upgrade with big booklets and bonus discs. Just plain repressings are not very interesting, except for Servants which is out of print.
Anyone else who agrees or have special wishes for the re-releases, please demand before it's too late!
My wishes for the re-releases: Big colour booklets in all albums with liner notes, rare pics, etc.
Frost and Fire
CD1: Frost and Fire original album
CD2&3: Orange Album, Demo 1979 and other old tracks.
King of the Dead
CD1: King of the Dead original album
CD2&3: live shows, out-takes, etc
One Foot in Hell
CD1: One Foot in Hell original album
CD2&3: One Foot in Hell original mix (the band didn't like the final production/mix), + live, out-takes, etc
Paradise Lost
CD1: Paradise Lost original album
CD2: Paradise Lost, original production (the band didn't like the final production), live, out-takes, etc
Servants of Chaos
CD1&2: Servants original album
CD3: more raritites. I'd prefer a DVD to be a separate release.
Who are the ones ending up buying these re-releases? Is it Metal Blade Records? No! So please tell them what you want before they are pressed!
I have them on CD already except Servants. I'd buy them all again if they were packaged in the way suggested. Heck, I'd buy Servants if it were simply made available again for a reasonable price.
Does the band have the original masters? They probably don't in the case of all releases as I think they signed away all rights to Paradise at least.
If they can get them then perhaps they could re-master them the way they see fit but that's gonna cost coin.
Personally, I think they all sound pretty good and I've grown crotchety in my old age so change isn't always for the better IMO, especially if the added touches don't exist. I think there were some quotes about the best takes of Tim's vocals being actually trashed on the floor in the Paradise sessions. If those best takes don't exist anymore then I say let sleeping dogs lie.
Now, that isn't to say I wouldn't buy any re-release as long as I know the artists themselves receive just compensation. The fellas in this band were way more creative than most bands and they deserve something more than an attaboy for that.
I'm just a fan though and I know that building a fan base is difficult so like I said I'd buy Servants if it were re-released but I'm not sticking money in anyone's bread jar unless the band sees some of that.
It would be very exciting to find out the entire Cirith Ungol back catalog was going to be re-released as deluxe edition Cd's with bonus material included. Each should come with an up-dated booklet with rare photos and liner notes from the band members.
It's an absolute crime for these brilliant recordings to remain out of print. These incredible musicians were robbed by the very industry they dreamed would help elevate them to fame and fortune the first time around. Lets give this incredible band what it deserves by releasing these incredible recordings with all the grandeur they rightfully deserve. There is a whole new generation of heavy music fans that need to hear the majesty that is/was the mighty Cirith Ungol.
Scott Campbell was,is ,and will always be the man -Hey Scott!! Tim

The norwegian record dealer www.platekompaniet.no sells this for 179 NOK, about US $30. I don't know whether they send outside of Norway.

I gotta get this book, and not only because of Cirith Ungol!
Am I the only one who digs this song, or is it only Rob who has a principle against it?
Its cool but I don't think its as good as the songs on OFIH.
Agree, but still stronger than than Join the Legion, which is perhaps the closest comparision on this album. JtL has a memorable, but still quite weak chorus IMO. I think The Troll is the most One Foot'ish song from this LP. And it has a pretty intro too.
good afternoon i am a big fan of cirith ungol but what i want to know is that if there are guitar and bass tabs that exsist fro cirith ungol songs i want to play them with my friends so badly is there a way where i can get contacted to see if this can be avaialble
